Joe McDermott Sworn In as 34th District State Senator
On Monday, October 15, 2007, at about 2:30 PM, State Representative Joe McDermott became State Senator Joe McDermott. Joe had been recommended for the appointment at a special session of 34th District Precinct Committee officers convened on October 13th at the call of King County Democratic Central Committee Chair Susie Sheary. See notes and photos of that event here.
McDermott's recommendation was unanimously accepted by the King County Council in its business meeting on Monday October 15th via Motion 2007-0540. Immediately after that appointment, Superior Court Judge and former 34th District State Senator Mike Heavey issued the oath of office to McDermott.
