Healthcare Initiatives and Senator Cantwell
•   Urgent Joint Meeting: 11th, 34th, and 37th LD Democrats and Senator Cantwell
•   Officers and members of three of King County's major Democratic legislative districts will hold an emergency meeting Tuesday on the national healthcare initiatives before the Congress. The major concern is Senator Maria Cantwell's apparent lack of commitment to health care options that are enjoying overwhelming popular support across the nation and in her state of Washington. Senator Cantwell has been summoned to attend.
•   The meeting is open to the public. It will take place at Carpenter's Hall, 231 Burnett Avenue N. in Renton at 7pm, Tuesday, June 30th.

Outreach Committee Meeting
•   The next outreach committee meeting will be on July 9th at 7:00 PM at the Salvadorean Bakery on Roxbury in White Center.
•   The Outreach Committee page is here - on that page are the Committee's Goals, a list of community organizations in the 34th, and meeting minutes.
•   The Outreach Committee plans voter registration drives, information and voter registration tables at festivals and other events, and local community activities, such as neighborhood cleanups.

•   Setup 5:00 PM, Picnic 6:00-8:00 PM - everyone, including candidates welcome, location: Lincoln Park Shelter #3 on the beach.
•   District will provide meats, utensils, soft drinks - bring your own potluck dish to share and drinks. Alcohol is prohibited!
•   There are no speeches or business meeting, but all members are welcome, as are candidates for all positions

Drinking Liberally - Talking Politics

•   An informal, inclusive Democratic drinking club. Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics.
•   Bars are democratic spaces - you talk to strangers, you share booths, you feel the bond of common ground. Bring democratic discourse to your local democratic space - build Democracy one drink at a time.

Membership Committee
•   Meets at 4 PM, Sunday March 15. Once again the meeting will be at the Salvadorian Bakery, 1719 S.W. Roxbury Street in White Center
•   After sifting through the input from our initial Committee meeting and our E-board working group, Jeff Upthegrove has developed a set of proposed 2009 projects for the Membership Committee (download them here). Bear in mind these are just proposals. Anyone interested in attending the meeting on the 15th should please review these ideas and be prepared to make suggestions for additions, subtractions or alterations. 34th District Leadership Development Team
•   Working to improve the leadership of the 34th District Democrats - this meeting will finalize the proposed new organization structure and rules for the Executive Board, based upon input from many sources. All 34th District members are welcome to attend.
•   Meeting at Elliot Bay Brewery on Monday 10/20 starting at 6:30 to 8:30 pm to finalize the rules for standing committees as approved by the E-Board for passing onto to the By-Laws and Rules Committee, to discuss our role for the upcoming reorganization, and consider any further action items that we might want to take up as a committee.
