Darcy Burner and Ruth Kagi light up the June Meeting
Darcy Burner, candidate for the 8th Congressional District spoke passionately about her campaign to unseat Republican Dave Reichert, who has voted to support the Bush Administration 93% of the time on issues ranging from privatizing national parks to reducing veteran's benefits. We, in turn, collected $1,795 to help her campaign, even though we are are not in the 8th District. State Rep. Ruth Kagi (D-32) described her bill, recently enacted into law, creating the new Washington State Department of Early Learning. We also heard about the "Transit Now" bus plan proposed by County Executive Ron Sims for the November ballot. And Sharon Henderson and Michael Taylor (pictured above, right) stepped up to become Precinct Committee Officers. See more news, minutes and photos on the June Meeting Minutes page. Updated June 5th
June 14th District Meeting: Darcy Burner
Our next District meeting will feature the dynamic Democatic candidate for the 8th
Congressional District, Darcy Burner. Darcy has a great opportunity to win one of the 15
seats we need for a Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
See the June message from our chair, Ivan Weiss for a lot
more details. In addition to Darcy, we'll hear from
Rep. Ruth Kagi (D-32),
about the newly created state Department of Early Learning, and from Melanie Mayock of
Transportation Choices about
"Transit
Now", the bus plan proposed by County Executive Ron Sims for the November ballot.
Besides Ivan's message, see also the District
meeting agenda page for more information and you can download the
June District newsletter from the web as well.

Sophie Gringer and Armenian Veterns
Last year longtime 34th PCO and member Jeff Gringer was accepted into the United States Department of State as a foreign service officer. He's been posted to Armenia, but remains a 34th District member. He also plans to start teaching Armenians about how local politics work in the United States. And recently his daughter - and 34th member - Sophie posed with local Armenian military veterans - a photo sent to us just in time for Memorial Day!
