Note: There was a holiday party, not a December meeting, so there are no meeting minutes.

December Message from Chair Ivan Weiss Let's Party for the Party
The 34th District Democrats' Holiday Party will be on our regular meeting day, Wednesday, December 12, at the Hall at Fauntleroy, in the back room (Vashon Room). Setup starts at 6 PM. If you haven't been to one before, prepare yourselves for a treat.
Our members knock themselves out to prepare their favorite potluck dishes, there is plenty to drink, children have a great time, as at our picnic, except for a welcome there are NO SPEECHES, and we get to know each other without being burdened by a program.
All that said, there are a few things that members can do so that our Holiday Party will continue to be the success that it has been:
Bring main dishes and salads, if you can. We recognize that not everyone can do this. People do work, and not everyone can spend all day in the kitchen. Just remember that there always are enough desserts. Buckets of fried chicken, or some barbecue, and good deli finger food are always welcome if you are in a rush.
Bring your favorite "Christmas cheer," but you must deliver it to the bar. The bartender will be on duty and will pour it for you. These are the rules under which we operate as a condition of our tenancy at the Hall.
Bring friends and neighbors. The Holiday Party gives us a chance to connect with people who might be with us in the trenches, but who hate meetings. If you know neighbors who might be induced to help us at the precinct caucuses or in other ways, they might enjoy meeting some of us in this setting. We never should turn down opportunities for organizing, no matter what the venue. Whatever works.
We're still the Democrats. That means people can and will campaign for the Democratic presidential candidate of their choice.
The Vashon Room is handy to the Hall's parking lot, which is behind the building. There is a ramp for wheelchair users.
Last and never least: Bring your kids. Bring your grandkids. Let them run around and have a great time. We'll fill them full of sugar and you can put them to bed. We do what we do for them, after all.
The District will provide some food (we haven't nailed that down yet) and some beverages, but standard operating procedure is that this party is potluck. It has worked for us in the past, and we expect that to continue.
So see you December 12 for all the holiday fun you can handle.
People come, people go
So we have three vacancies on our Executive Board: Secretary, King County Committeewoman, and King County Committeewoman alternate. Nominations and elections for these three positions will be on the agenda for the January 9 meeting.
According to our bylaws, all members may vote for Secretary, but only elected and appointed PCOs may vote for King County Committeewoman and King County Committeewoman alternate. All members can run for any positions that are not gender specific.
Please call me if you are interested in serving in any of these capacities, and I'll fill you in on the details.
Thanks to our outgoing Executive Board members for their service to the District: Sharon Henderson, Secretary; Ernestine Pearl-Rosendale, King County Committeewoman; Cherisse Luxa, King County Committeewoman alternate.
