Thank you for joining the 34th District Democrats.
We are your neighbors. We volunteer our time, our work, and our
money to build a strong political action team. With your help, we
will make it even stronger.
Our district includes West Seattle, White Center, Burien, and Vashon/Maury
Island. We are active at the neighborhood level, the county level,
the state level, and the federal level. We support candidates, and
causes, and political campaigns, but most important, we support
working families and our community.
If this is your first time here, don't be shy! You are among friends.
Walk up to someone, stick out your hand and say hello. Introduce
yourself and ask how you can help. Chances are that in very little
time, you l be working on one project or another. Certainly we have
plenty of work to go around. You might want to help with voter registration
efforts.
You might want to be a Precinct Committee Officer. Maybe you like
researching legislative issues or being part of a speaker bureau.
And we always need people who will help us recruit new members.
The 34th has a great newsletter and a terrific Web site, which
welcome member contributions. We plan and put on some great fundraising
events. There is always a work party for one activity or another,
and we love to have a good time. We welcome and appreciate your
help so don't be shy! Contact a committee chair to see how you can
help.
Our most important role is to encourage and increase participation
in the political process. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Our
community and our nation are only as strong as We, the People, make
it. We can, and we do, have an effect.
So please stick around, join a committee, attend the meetings regularly,
get to know us, exchange ideas, always keep in touch. Tell your
friends and neighbors in the District that we have something going
here, and encourage them to attend.
