The 34th District Reorganizes itself in January
The 34th District Democratic organization will be reorganized at our January, 2009, meeting. That means that we will elect new officers and the newly elected Chair of the District willl appoint chairs of committees to do the work of the Democratic Party in the 34th. Many of the existing officers will not be running for re-election or will seek other offices, so there are many opportunities if you want to have a leadership position. You can also serve as a member on one of a dozen or more committees which advance the cause of change in the 34th. A complete description of the reorganization process, the District officer positions and the committees is in a document here. More information will appear on the website between now and January.
West Seattle Farmers' Market
We have a table at the Farmers Market in the Junction every Sunday until the election, unless we are forced out by the rain. To volunteer, call
Jackie Dupras at 935-9683 or jdupras@quidnunc.net.
Committees
The 34th District has a number of committees which accomplish a lot of the real work of the
organization. These committees need help and volunteers. See the Committees page on this
website for more details and contact information.
White Center Food Bank
The 34th District Democrats partner with the
Fauntleroy Unitarian Church to provide volunteers for the
fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:00 to 8:00. Your main job would be to distribute food
to working families who, thanks to our booming economy, are not able to earn enough money
to make ends meet. There are other times you can help if you can’t make this day. Call
Beth Grieser at 938-5706 for more information.
West Seattle Food Bank
There are volunteer activities all during the week including picking up food from
stores in a van, unloading trucks, putting food away and distribution of food at
the food bank. Call Ali at the Food Bank at 932-9023 to volunteer and be sure to let her
know that you are with the 34th District Democrats.
Also: keep those receipts coming for Morgan Street Thriftway and Metropolitan Market
(bring them to our monthly 34th District meeting and give them to Jackie Dupras).
These two stores will donate 1% of the amount of your receipts to the West Seattle Food Bank.
