Candidates' Forum - October 24th
The 34th District Democrats will be holding a Candidates' Forum on October 24th at the Hall at Fauntleroy for Democrats who wish to be appointed to the House position. The Forum will be held at the Hall at Fauntleroy from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. It will be moderated by Lucy Gaskill-Gaddis, former Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Seattle. Beth Geiser (938-5706) and Les Treall (762-0226) are co-chairing a committee which is planning this forum. More information:

Announced Candidates - Representative

These Democrats have announced their intention to seek appointment to the position of State Representative, should Rep. Joe McDermott be appointed to Sen. Poulsen's seat and therefore resign from the House. In addition, each candidate has been asked to complete a candidate questionaire (a blank one can be found here). Joe Mitter, former Chair of the 34th, although he announced he may seek the appointment, has now decided not to do so.

The Executive Board of the 34th District Democrats has created a special committee to sponsor a Candidates' forum for those members who are seeking appointment to the position of State Representative, Position 2, now held by Joe McDermott. This position may very well become vacant if Joe is appointed State Senator. Beth Geiser (938-5706) and Les Treall (762-0226) will co-chair this Committee. The Forum Committee wants a very open and transparent process to design the forum. It's next meeting is Tuesday, October 16th at 7:30 PM at the Uptown Coffee Espresso, 4301 SW Edmunds St (southern edge of the Junction). All members are welcome to attend. .

Questions for Candidates
All members are urged to submit questions to be asked of candidates either in the written questionairre or at the Forum. Submit those questions via e-mail to the webmaster. See the questions page for a list of all submitted questions.

Candidate Background Information
The 34th District wants all PCO's and members to have as much information as possible about potential candidates for appointment to these positions. There will be a series of web pages on this website with statements from candidates, candidate biographies or resume's, candidate answers to questionairres, photos and other material. A blank copy of the candidate questionnaire is here. Candidates should submit such information to the webmaster, Bill Schrier, and should e-mail or call him (937-8045) with questions or comments about the material to be posted on the website.
