March 9th Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: 7:00 PM
I. Flag Salute led by King County Council Member Dow Constantine
II. 34th District conducted an Issues Fair from 7:00-8:00 PM with
open format. The following groups were in attendance:

III. Call to Order 8:00 PM
IV. Approval of meeting minutes from February's meeting.
V. 2nd Vice Chair Tim Nuse who was instrumental in creating the
Issues Fair, introduced the attending exhibitors and thanked them
for their time.

VII. New Business
Treasury Report was approved and is available on the web.
Budget approved and also is available for review on the web.
VIII. A motion was put forth by Newsletter Editor Jackie Dupras.
She requested a change in the by-laws (Article III/Section II).
This change would allow the newsletter to be mailed out 10 days
before the next district meeting instead of 11 days. The change
would allow for more time to get the newsletter copied and mailed
to constituents. The motion was approved.
IX. Announcements o Dina Lydia announced an event called "Beyond
the Green Zone" with guest speaker Robin Fasano. The speaker
will discuss her experience in Iraq. The meeting will take place
March 21st, 6:15 PM at the Highpoint Branch of the Seattle Public
Library.
The West Seattle Neighbors for Peace and Justice are showing
the film "Yes Men" at the West Seattle Library on Sunday,
March 13th at 2:00 PM.
Peggy Abby from the West Seattle Democratic Women announced
a scholarship fund for students attending West Seattle High School.
This scholarship will be awarded to the a senior at West Seattle
High School for writing the best essay on The First Amendment, Protecting
Democratic Values and the Rights of Free Speech. The members of
the West Seattle Democratic Women are currently asking for donations.
X. Toni Lysen gave a brief report on the King County LAC. They
currently have 20 active members following numerous bills through
the legislative process. Updates will be given as new developments
arise. The Mental Health Parity bill passed requiring health insurers
to treat patients with medical and mental problems the same in regards
to payments, etc.
