Use ear marks properly to support our community. This place is changing, we need to change our votes.
What would you bring to the seat if you win. Jim was my mentor. I know how to deal with other nations, I would be in contact with all of the 7th. Jim thinks he has it made. Tukwila mayor has never meet jim.
What would you do with those that have paid their debts in prison. I think they needs to be treatment to help reprogram them.

Resolution Supporting I-97 and Opposing War Profiteering
The following resolution, submitted by PCO John Repp, will be presented to the membership for approval at our July meeting:
Whereas: The 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq,
preemptively carried out under false pretenses, and
without UN authorization, violates international law,
placing those who plan, participate in, and profit
from it outside the law; and
Whereas: The Israeli settlements built on occupied
Palestinian lands are illegal under international law,
placing those who plan, participate in, and profit
from any settlement activity outside of international
law; and
Whereas: The World Court in The Hague has ruled
that the separation barrier built by Israel in the
occupied Palestinian territories is illegal under
international law, and should be dismantled,
unequivocally placing those who plan, participate in,
and profit from its erection outside of international
law; and
Whereas: A pre-emptive military attack on Iran, as
threatened by the United States of America and
Israel, would also be a violation of international law;
and
Whereas: The city of Seattle has in the past
boycotted corporations engaged in activities
violating international law, such as resolution 27220
mandating divestment from institutions doing
business with apartheid-era South Africa; and
Whereas: The 34th District Democratic platform
calls for a foreign policy that supports the values of
the American people including "a steadfast desire
for peace and justice" and support for
"organizations that promote international law"; and
Whereas: Seattle ballot initiative 97, also known as
the Seattle Divest from War and Occupation
initiative is a grassroots effort to use the city of
Seattle's financial resources as a way to leverage
corporations engaged in war profiteering,
specifically Halliburton Holding Company and
Caterpillar, Inc., to refrain from illegal activity in the
Middle East; and
Whereas: Initiative 97 is consistent with the
principles of the 34th District Democratic Party
platform and we support its aims; and
Whereas: Seattle ballot initiative 97 backers need
to gather 18,000 signatures by September 27,
2008;
Therefore the 34th District Democratic Party
encourages our members to help collect
signatures to help get Seattle Initiative 97 on the
ballot; and
Therefore the 34th District Democratic Party will
make available signature forms to each PCO for
purposes of gathering signatures during the
primary campaign walking season, asking voters in
their precincts to sign the forms.
August Message from Chair Ivan Weiss
The 34th District Democrats and the Top Two Primary
The primary election is over and the last of the numbers are trickling in. In this chairman's opinion, one statistic is more relevant to the 34th District Democratic Party organization than any other:
King County voter turnout: 31.88 percent.
This more than anything illustrates the task we have at hand between now and November 4 - Get Out The Vote, GOTV.
We know the turnout in the 34th will be higher than 31.88 percent. It's probably higher for the primary than the King County average. Our turnout in 2004 was 85 percent, with a 72 percent Democratic vote for the top of the ticket. We can meet or beat this, and that is our goal. After Labor Day, it's crunch time for this election.
It means a little bit of work for all of us, and more than a little bit of work for those willing to do it. Fortunately, we have the tools and the personnel on hand to be better at this than we ever have been. More on that below.
It starts in your home and closest to your home. If you know your neighbors, please make sure they know that you think their vote is important. It might seem "obvious," but it isn't. Just remember Governor Gregoire's 133-vote margin in 2004, and be sure to mention it.
Kimber McCreery, David Ginsberg, Artemis OakGrove, the Obama Fellows, and the neighborhood leaders will be asking you to help in your neighborhoods or beyond. Please give them a hand. Please help them recruit other volunteers. It might be for canvassing, or phone banking, or data entry, or stapling literature packs together for canvassers. Whatever it is, we're here to help.
If you can't canvass, but you can phone, the Votebuilder software allows us to create specialized "virtual phone banks" that can put you in contact with any group that you can separate out, whether that is based on address, voting frequency, age, whether those voters have identified as Democrats or not, or have attended a Democratic caucus, or have identified as belonging to any national or ethnic group. We could, for instance, create a list that would allow you to call or canvass just the people on your block, and to enter immediately the information they gave you.
If you live in an apartment building, we might need your help getting campaign material, such as our sample ballot, to your fellow residents. Some people live secured apartments mainly to discourage uninvited visitors. Being able to tell them "I'm your neighbor, here in the building" could help us break down a lot of barriers, and could lead to new relationships that would help us build our majority.
If you are a Precinct Committee Officer, or have been elected for the next term, we expect you to help to the extent that it is possible, or to let us know as soon as possible if you can't, or if you will be out of town or otherwise indisposed. We have roughly 40 precincts out of 206 that do not have PCOs, so we will rely on Neighborhood Leaders to contact voters in those precincts.
It's an exciting time to be a Democrat, and an exciting time to be part of the Campaign for Change—at all levels of government. If you have any questions about any phase of election preparation, Please call me or call Kimber McCreery, our PCO, Field Organizer, and national convention delegate, and we'll help.
See you Wednesday, September 10, and on the campaign trail for "all the democracy you can handle."
