Candidate Background; 34th Legislative District, Senator
John Kennedy is a veteran of WW II, having served three years in the Navy, primarily in the South Pacific. Married - 56 years, Wife Helen (West Seattle native), 4 sons., 3 living, 6 grandchildren.
He is a graduate of Seattle University, with a B Ph, major in Philosophy; he earned a Masters in Psychology at Loyola University in Chicago. Interned in Psychology with the Chicago School District, and served as Psychologist for the Cook County (Chicago) Criminal Court.
John continued his education with graduate and post graduate programs at University of Washington, City College, and Seattle University throughout his adult life, primarily in the fields of finance and economics, as well as numerous continuing education courses with various professional organizations, (NASD, WAMB, Real Estate, Financial Planning, etc.)
Politically, he first voted in 1948 for Harry S Truman. Served as a PCO various periods from the 1950's to present, 34th & 31st Districts. Elected Chair of the 34th in 1960, worked on the campaigns of JFK, and Al Rosellini, exchanged Christmas cards with JFK until his untimely death. Supported many Demos for office including my friend Mike Heavey.
He worked for over forty years as a business, and financial planning consultant, for businesses and individual clients in the state of Washington. For the past twenty years has worked primarily with "Seniors" in the areas of financial planning, wealth management, and asset allocation. Amongst other projects he has been a pioneer in the development and promotion of the federally insured reverse mortgage programs.
With the boomer generation now arriving at the age of "Older Americans" (Retirement), John feels that there are tremendous social and civic benefits to be gained by tapping into the vast reservoir of knowledge that resides in the minds of our "Elders". A "knowledge base" is a terrible thing to waste. As an "Older American" John wishes to demonstrate that one is never too old to offer his or her services for the benefit of his fellow man.
